Greetings dear friend,
Allow me express my uttermost word of thank you to you for your generous giving towards our ‘Raise a meal campaign”. Many of our people’s greatest fear is hunger and several unfortunate stories have been reported country-wide ranging from family abandonment to mass domestic violence and homicide cases as majority fail to cope with the increasing and desperate hunger situations as a result COVID-19 effects.
It’s on this note that as Afaayo Africa Ministry Team say thank you dear friend. This will not have been possible without your generosity during the lockdown, over 115 families (690 individuals) at least have been provided for with a basic meal, again thank you!
COVID-19 Lock-down extended to 14 more days.
As of today, Uganda has 100 confirmed cases, 55 recoveries, 21 active cases with no deaths so far. It’s based on the above statistics that our government has again announced another extra 14 days into the lock-down extension as a means to restrain the further spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a ministry, thinking about the next 14 days of staying home gives us unrest in our hearts. We have over 200 children with their families focusing their eyes on us. they need as one more time to rescue them by supporting them to have food on their table. Friends, we need you again.
What does the Extra 14 days mean?
In Uganda, with 21.4% of our population living below the poverty line, 40% living less than a dollar a day and with 98% of those being women, the extra 14 days into the lock-down extension means increased hunger stricken families, starving within their own homes and houses with potential possibilities of loss of lives as already reported happening from certain areas of the country. The 14 day extension has brought a lot of sadness to many families we serve. We have been receiving phone calls from some of these families asking if we have any food to provide.
Therefore friends, we kindly ask you to stand with us to feed fathers, mothers and children that have no hope of feeding and live to see another day.
Our next intervention as Afaayo Africa
“Raise a meal” is aimed at providing a basic meal to the orphaned, vulnerable children and families within the Entebbe community at least through the just announced extra 14 days of the national lock-down here in Uganda. For the next 14 days which end on the 28th of this very month, with each week costing $30 to feed a family, a total cost of $60 will be needed to provide a basic meal for each family. Our target is to raise a meal for 100 families for the next 14 days.
This therefore means a total cost of $6,000 respectively.
Conclusively, as much as we raise funds in order to provide for these vulnerable families with a basic meal through these extra 14 lock-down extended days, please we humbly entreaty you to spare a moment and pray for these families. Stress and hopeless circumstances with increased uncertainty of when the COVID-19 lock-down will end, it’s evident that besides food, we need God to divinely intervene with spiritual, social and emotional healing.
we therefore request you friends to consider supporting the needy families another time to push them for another lock-down extension. God bless you so much.
