My name is Magezi Shama, and I am a student in Senior One North at Air Force Secondary School.

At home, I live with my parents—Mr. Wandeba Peter, a carpenter, and Mrs. Donata Wandeba, a self-employed shopkeeper who also sells fried beans. Together, they work tirelessly to provide for our family of six. I am the firstborn, with two younger siblings, and we are also blessed to live with our grandmother, Deseranta, who has been a strong influence in our spiritual journey.

My Journey with Afaayo Bible Church

From the very first day Afaayo began, I have been part of the ministry alongside my grandmother and siblings. I started in Sunday School, where I learned powerful Bible stories about Abraham, Moses, Noah, and Jesus. These stories shaped my faith and gave me a strong foundation in Christ.

As the years passed, I transitioned into the main church. My journey there began with a passion for music and worship. I was first a singer under the guidance of Pastor Grace Sekandi, who trained us faithfully. Later, I discovered my talent in drumming. I admired a young man named Tony, who used to play the drums. I would watch him closely, copying his moves until I eventually learned the skill myself. When Tony left for studies, I stepped in, and by God’s grace, I became the drummer for the church. Today, I continue to serve on the worship team with joy and commitment.

My Salvation Story

I gave my life to Christ in 2018, when I was in Primary Five. Growing up in a Christian family planted the seed of faith in me early. But what truly moved me was the story of Abraham. His deep faith in God inspired me to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I realized that faith is something you cannot manufacture on your own—it comes from trusting fully in God. Since then, I have grown as a disciple, learning to walk in faith, to be faithful, and to influence others positively.

What Afaayo Means to Me

Through Afaayo Bible Church, I have received countless blessings. Food packages and scholarships, including one for my younger brothers, have supported our family. Afaayo has also given me a platform to minister to the Lord—whether through drumming, singing, media, cleaning, or children’s ministry.

Beyond that, Afaayo has provided me with opportunities to travel throughout Uganda, exploring places I never thought possible. Each experience has deepened my faith and strengthened my love for God’s work.

I am especially grateful for mentors like Pastor Grace, who has taught me humility, obedience, and the power of prayer, and Pastor Michael, who has guided me on how to live as a true man of God in a challenging world. Their influence has shaped me into who I am becoming today.

My dream and Vision

Looking ahead, I aspire to become a flight engineer. I have seen people succeed in this career, and I believe God can also make it possible for me. But beyond success, my greatest desire is to impact others. I want to inspire young people not to give up on their dreams, no matter the challenges.

As God blesses me in the future, I want to contribute back to my community by:

  • Providing Bibles for young peopleso they can be rooted in Christ.
  • I aim to construct churches in villages where there is a shortage of places for worship.
  • We are also establishing schools and hospitals to provide support to children and families who are in need.

My vision is to be a blessing to others so that through my life many will know Christ.

 My Hobbies

In my free time, I love drumming, singing, playing rugby, and playing football. These activities bring me joy and help me connect with friends.

Closing Words

I am deeply thankful to Afaayo Bible Church and Afaayo Ministries for all they have done for me and my family. They have not only supported us physically but also helped us grow spiritually. My prayer is that this ministry continues to expand and touch lives across nations, as Jesus commanded in Matthew—that the gospel may be preached to the whole world.

This is my story. I am Magezi Shama, a child of God, a drummer, a dreamer, and a future flight engineer, living to serve Christ and my community.
