Lubega lost his father when he was seven years old. Shortly after, his mother left, and his aunt took him in and has cared for him ever since. He has eight siblings, and life has not been easy.

His aunt has no formal job but manages a two-room rental property, earning about 170,000 Ugandan Shillings (approximately $49) per month. This small income must cover rent, food, school fees, and household utilities, which often leaves the family without basic needs like food, water, or electricity.

Despite these challenges, Lubega remains hopeful and committed to completing his education so he can support his family and provide a better future for his younger siblings.

Faith Journey

Lubega’s encounter with God began during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2019. During that time, he spent time with a friend who shared his love for dance. Together, they visited Afaayo Bible Church, where he immediately felt welcomed. The pastors and church members showed care and interest in his life, asking about his family, school, and well-being.

Before joining Afaayo, Lubega’s life was filled with negative influences. He had been involved in gangs, drug use, and street fights. However, his experience at Afaayo Bible Church completely transformed him. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and his life began to change—spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.

Through discipleship and mentorship, Lubega learned how to pray, how to speak confidently, and how to live a disciplined and purposeful life.

Ministry Involvement

Lubega’s passion for dance found a new purpose at Afaayo Bible Church. He formed a dance group dedicated to serving God, inviting his friends to join and use their talents for ministry. The group quickly grew and became part of the church’s youth programs, using creative arts to share the gospel.

In addition to dance, Lubega serves actively in the youth ministry and the children’s ministry, helping guide young people in their walk with God. Through these roles, he has developed leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

He believes that dance and ministry are powerful tools to reach the hearts of young people, reminding them that they can honor God through their gifts.

Educational Support & Aspirations

Despite financial difficulties, Lubega continues to work hard in school. He is determined to complete his education and dreams of becoming an interior designer or fashion designer. He hopes to use his creativity to earn a living, support his family, and empower others in his community.

Afaayo Bible Church and Mission Next Gen have provided him with emotional, spiritual, and community support—helping him stay focused on his studies and grounded in faith, even when life becomes challenging.

Impact of Afaayo Bible Church

Afaayo Bible Church has been a place of refuge, transformation, and growth for Lubega. The church provided him with a safe and loving environment that helped him turn away from destructive behaviors and discover his purpose in Christ.

Through consistent mentorship, youth gatherings, and ministry opportunities, Lubega has grown into a confident, disciplined, and passionate young man eager to serve God and inspire others. His story is a testimony of how love, faith, and community can change a life.

Hobbies & Interests

Lubega enjoys dancing, especially as an act of worship to God. He also loves mentoring children, public speaking, and creative design—which fuels his dream of becoming a designer. Spending time with friends and being part of church activities bring him joy and purpose.

Lubega’s Words

“Before I joined Afaayo Bible Church, my life was chaotic. I was involved in gangs and drugs, but God changed me. Now I know how to pray, how to serve, and how to lead. Afaayo gave me purpose, and I want to use my gifts to inspire others and build a better future for my family.”
