My name is Aguti Teddy, and I am a born-again Christian. I come from a humble family of eight — my mother, five siblings, my niece and nephew, and me, the lastborn. Life has not always been easy for us, but through every season, we have shared love, faith, and the determination to keep moving forward. From a young age, I have always been part of a church fellowship. My faith has been my source of strength, especially through the tough times at home. My mother is a retired teacher, and since her retirement, she has had no regular income. Getting food at home is often by luck, and my brother, who once worked in a company, lost his job early this year after the company was sold. For two years, I stayed home after high school, praying for the chance to join college. It was my dream to study, graduate, and make my family proud — to show that I was not a failure.

By God’s grace, I was admitted to Africa Renewal University in Buloba, a Christian institution, where I’m pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I love this course because it opens up a world of computer-related opportunities, but the journey hasn’t been simple.
There were moments when I couldn’t access my student portal because of unpaid tuition.

I would sit in class filled with worry, wondering how I’d complete my coursework. I called my mother several times, and each time she would gently say, “Where will I get the money?” Those words made me realize the weight of her burden and stirred a deeper determination
within me to keep working hard.

Then came the miracle I had prayed for. This year, Afaayo Africa Ministries stepped in and
offered to support me with school fees and scholastic materials. I will never forget the day
Mommy Grace called my mother and me for a meeting with other parents. We were told that
Afaayo would cover our fees and requirements. I was overwhelmed with joy and relief — it
was truly an answered prayer! My mother rejoiced, saying, “The Lord’s service is great.”
My journey with Afaayo Bible Church began long before that moment. My Sunday school
teacher, Teacher Felista, had joined the church and invited me and my friend Jackie to come
along. From the very first day, I was drawn to the Sunday school praise and worship team
because I loved singing — and that experience shaped my ministry life.
As a little girl, I would sit quietly watching my teacher rehearse with the worship team. I was
shy, but I listened and learned. Each time the team sang a new song on Sunday, I already
knew it from the rehearsals — and that filled my heart with joy. Over time, I grew in
confidence and joined the youth ministry, where I was mentored by Aunt Lee, Uncle Brian,
and others in the main worship team.
Today, I serve faithfully in the worship team. I also teach in the Sunday school and co-lead a
missional community group called House of Hope with my friend Simon Peter. Additionally,
I serve in the Connection Partners Ministry at the welcome center and often interpret during

services. I love being involved in many areas of ministry because I can never repay God’s
kindness in my life. Serving wherever I am needed is my way of showing gratitude.
Afaayo Africa Ministries has been more than just a church to me — it has been a family. It
has given me purpose, friendship, spiritual growth, and even physical support like food
packages. Through Afaayo, I have traveled for ministry and met friends from different places
who have inspired me deeply.
My greatest dream is to become a computer wizard — to solve real-world computer problems
and help my family rise from poverty. The world is going digital, and I want to be among
those shaping that future. Through faith and hard work, I believe anyone can rise, no matter
their struggles.
I am especially thankful to Pastor Michael and Mama Grace Sekandi. They have been like
parents to me — approachable, loving, and supportive in every way. Without Afaayo, my
family and I would not be where we are today.
With all my heart, I say thank you, Afaayo Africa Ministries, for choosing to reach out to us.
You have been a blessing to my life, my family, and our community.
