About the Founder

Afaayo Africa Ministries (AAM) was founded by Pastor Michael Daniels Ssekandi to demonstrate the love of Jesus to hurting communities in Africa. Growing up in a polygamous family left Michael with a deep longing for love and belonging. After losing his parents to HIV/AIDS, he found himself in an orphanage. On December 27, 1990, while in the orphanage, Michael committed his life to Christ, encountering a loving and caring Heavenly Father who filled his emotional and spiritual emptiness. This profound experience inspired the name “Afaayo,” a Luganda word meaning “God cares.”

Years later, Michael founded AAM to share this message of divine care. He pursued theological education and now serves as the lead pastor of Afaayo Bible Church in Entebbe, Uganda. He also leads a Mobile Bible Training and Leadership Development Program, equipping pastors who cannot access formal theological education. Additionally, he serves as the executive chairperson of the Entebbe Pastors’ Fellowship. Michael is married to Grace Ssekandi, and they have two children, Michaela and Marshal.
